India continues to be one of the most important markets for OnePlus especially when it comes to smartphones, tablets, audio products, and accessories. But for any tech brand to truly succeed in a price-sensitive market like India, getting the pricing right is critical.
That’s exactly what OnePlus is aiming to do next.
OnePlus Tablets Will Now Be Made in India
In a big step forward, OnePlus has partnered with Indian manufacturing company Bhagwati Products Limited to start locally assembling its Android tablets. This includes the upcoming OnePlus Pad 3 and the more affordable OnePlus Pad Lite.
Bhagwati Products will handle production at its Greater Noida facility meaning the next wave of OnePlus tablets sold in India will carry the “Manufactured and Assembled in India” tag.
What Does This Mean for You?
For Indian consumers, this is more than just a label. Local manufacturing typically brings better availability, lower import costs, and in many cases, more competitive pricing.
And that’s exactly what might happen with the OnePlus Pad 3 a premium tablet that was officially launched in June 2025 but still hasn’t hit store shelves. By manufacturing it locally, OnePlus is setting the stage to offer it at a more aggressive price point once it finally goes on sale in September.
Similarly, the next batches of the budget-friendly Pad Lite will also be distributed through Bhagwati Products, allowing OnePlus to optimize supply chains and offer better value to customers.
Part of a Bigger Plan: Project Starlight
This move is a part of OnePlus’ broader “Project Starlight” initiative, which was first announced in December 2024. The project involves an estimated ₹6,000 crore investment over the next three years aimed at:
- Expanding local production
- Strengthening after-sales service in India
- Launching more “Made in India” devices
With this partnership, all major OnePlus categories including smartphones, earbuds, and now tablets will be made locally. That gives OnePlus the flexibility to respond to market demands faster and stay competitive against other value-driven brands like Realme, Oppo, and Xiaomi.
More Value, Less Wait
Ultimately, this is a win for Indian buyers. As OnePlus adds more products to its local production pipeline, we can expect:
- Better pricing
- Faster availability
- Possibly more India-first features or offers
It’s a smart move by OnePlus and one that shows they’re serious about not just selling in India, but building in India too.
