MediaTek has officially confirmed that it will launch its next flagship mobile chipset the Dimensity 9500 on September 22, 2025, in China. This new processor will go head-to-head with Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5, which is scheduled to debut just a day later on September 23.
Dimensity 9500 Specifications and Features
MediaTek will build the Dimensity 9500 on TSMC’s advanced 3nm process, equipping it with a 1+3+4 CPU cluster. The prime core may run at speeds above 4GHz, promising a huge leap in performance.
A new Mali-G1 Ultra GPU will power the chipset, supporting hardware-based ray tracing and delivering up to 40% better efficiency compared to its predecessor. Reports also suggest that the Dimensity 9500 will feature 16MB of L3 cache and a next-gen NPU rated at 100 TOPS, making it a powerhouse for AI-driven tasks.
Gaming and Performance
Early leaks describe the Dimensity 9500 as a gaming beast, built to handle demanding titles with smoother performance and advanced graphics. Benchmarks already hint at scores crossing 4 million points on AnTuTu, putting it in direct competition with Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5.
First Smartphones with Dimensity 9500

The first devices featuring the new chipset are expected to launch as early as October 2025. The Vivo X300 series is likely to debut with the Dimensity 9500, followed by Oppo’s Find X9 lineup. More smartphone makers are expected to adopt the chipset in the coming months.
MediaTek Dimensity 9600 Also in Development
Alongside the Dimensity 9500 news, MediaTek also confirmed that it is working on the MediaTek 9600, its first chipset based on TSMC’s 2nm N2P process. Scheduled for the second half of 2026, the Dimensity 9600 promises 18% higher performance and 36% lower power consumption. However, Samsung’s Exynos 2600 might beat it to market.
The Battle of Flagship Chipsets
With Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 arriving just a day after MediaTek’s unveiling, the competition between the two chipsets is heating up. Both brands are pushing boundaries in AI, gaming, and power efficiency, and it will be fascinating to see which one comes out on top.
