Qualcomm is all set to unveil its next-generation flagship chipset at the Snapdragon Summit 2025 on September 23. Ahead of the big event, the company has confirmed the official name of its upcoming SoC it will be called the Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5, not Snapdragon 8 Elite 2 as many expected. This new chip succeeds last year’s Snapdragon 8 Elite and is shaping up to be one of Qualcomm’s biggest upgrades yet.

According to the listing, the Galaxy version of the chipset runs on two Oryon prime cores clocked at 4.74GHz and six Oryon performance cores at 3.63GHz. The standard version is expected to max out at 4.61GHz for the prime cores.
These results suggest a 12% boost in single-core performance and a 24% jump in multi-core performance compared to the Snapdragon 8 Elite from 2024. While Apple’s A19 Pro may still hold the crown in single-core speed, Qualcomm’s new chip looks ready to dominate multi-core workloads with its 8-core Oryon CPU setup.
Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 AnTuTu Scores (Leaked)
On the AnTuTu v11 benchmark, the Snapdragon 8 Elite could set new records. Now, according to a recent Weibo post by DCS, the chipset may score between 4.2 to 4.4 million points a massive leap from the Snapdragon 8 Elite’s 2.7 million score on AnTuTu v10.
Interestingly, MediaTek’s upcoming Dimensity 9500 is also expected to cross the 4 million mark, meaning competition in 2025 will be fiercer than ever.
