Zoom releases 5.0 update improve Privacy & Security
Zoom today announced its 5.0 update, with some security updates promised by the company as the software shot into popularity among the coronavirus epidemic.A key milestone in our 90-day plan is to continuously identify, address and enhance the security and privacy capabilities of the Zoom platform. AES will provide enhanced protection for meeting and resistance against tampering with data, adding support for 256-bit GCM encryption.
Passwords will also be required by default in cloud recording, and administered accounts can manually define the complexity of the password for their organization. Turning on the zoom in waiting room for these customers is by default, someone has to add an extra step of verification before joining the meeting
Finally, the update adds the host’s menu bar as a security icon. Clicking on it will allow you to access all zoom security features in one place instead of scattered in the meeting menu.
