Noting OS 4.0

Nothing is gearing up to roll out its next big software update Nothing OS 4.0 and it’s shaping up to be the most exciting update yet for Nothing Phone users.

The company recently dropped a teaser video and a detailed community post, giving us a sneak peek at the new features coming with the Android 16-based OS update.

A Minimalist Yet Powerful Redesign

With Nothing OS 4.0, the brand continues its philosophy of minimalism. The update focuses on delivering an experience that feels effortless, intuitive, and uniquely human. Expect a more consistent color palette across the interface with hues of red, white, grey, yellow, and green applied to buttons, toggles, apps, and labels.

Even the lockscreen clock is getting a fresh, minimal font, while the quick settings panel has been redesigned with cleaner visuals, resizable toggles, and more customization options.

AI Dashboard – First of Its Kind

One of the most interesting additions is a new AI dashboard. This isn’t AI-based, but it provides an AI-focused analysis. With the new Start AI Analysis option, users will be able to see which AI tools are most used on their device, usage percentages, and other insights.

This dashboard will rely on Nothing’s Essential Space and leverage Whisper AI, OpenAI’s automatic speech recognition (ASR) model.

Nothing OS 4.0 True Pitch Black Dark Mode

For dark mode fans, Nothing OS 4.0 is finally introducing Pitch Black Dark Mode. Unlike OS 3.0, where only the biometric page went truly dark, this time the entire OS will adopt a deep black theme, delivering a sleek and battery-friendly UI.

Nothing OS 4.0 Smarter App Icons & Improved Multitasking

The update also enhances multitasking. The floating icon feature now supports up to two apps with new icon indicators, making it easier to switch between tasks without breaking the flow.

Nothing OS 4.0 Smoother Performance & Better Photography

Nothing OS 4.0 promises faster app opening and closing, improved responsiveness, and overall smoother animations.
